Workers Compensation Patients

If you've experienced an injury at work, here are the steps to follow:


  • Inform your supervisor about the injury immediately.
  • Seek medical attention from your general practitioner (GP) for an initial assessment.
  • Have your GP fill in a work capacity certificate and submit it to your insurance company.
  • Obtain a claim number from your workers' compensation insurance company.
  • Undergo necessary investigations (such as CT and/or MRI scans), which are usually approved by the insurance company within the first two weeks.


Depending on the results of investigations, you may undergo conservative therapy or be referred to a neurosurgeon for further evaluation.

If treatment is booked within the first two weeks of the injury, the insurance company must approve it immediately. This includes surgical procedures, which are easier to organize within this timeframe.
